The Queen Is Dead CD box – click image to enlarge Here’s some new images which gives fans a better idea how the forthcoming reissue of ‘ The Queen Is Dead will look. The image above shows the 3CD+DVD set with what looks like three gatefold card wallets and a booklet, all of which will reside in a clamshell box. I’d guess that the main album packaging will hold two discs – the remastered album and ‘additional recordings’ – while the other two ( Live in Boston and the DVD with hi-res album and the Derek Jarman film) will hold one disc apiece. This continuing to milk the public with re-releases where you have to buy the main album again (and pay a higher price in the process) is frustrating but at least this is available in a two CD set with the live show. Instead, though, they should do what was done by Universal some time back–they would release deluxe editions with the original album included AND a single release with the extra disc alone if you are so inclined to not crowd your shelves. It was seemed the best and most logical thing to,do something the music industry is not well known for. I,would love to see physical releases like this to always come with a loseless digital download for those inclined as well. Not a whole heap then, the last session i remember recording onto cassette when it was played, and remember London and SATH having a lot more oomph guitar wise that the versions released as B-sides/Louder Than Bombs For the rest, there isn’t anything there that isn’t already on Smithstorrent and I can’t remember any big differences. For instance we have two excellent versions of Reel Around the Fountain in the debut version and the Hatful session version; would another two add anything? Isn’t the version of How Soon Is Now Morrissey singing over the original studio version.arguably inessential.
